Today is Rosh Hodesh Nissan.
Every Rosh Hodesh, I love seeing thousands of kids (and teachers and even some regular parents) dressed in Shabbat Clothing, as we are all One Nation, marking the Same Calendar. Rosh Hodesh Nissan IS the Mitzva of using Our Calnedar, so it is that much more special today.
Additionally, on Rosh Hodesh Nissan, we see those thousands of students out there - walking down the street - all morning, as classes and preschools go for a walk to find a fruit tree in bloom. (PS - we have here in our garden, the pear tree has flowers, as does the grapefruit tree.)
The text of the beracha is
"ברוך אתה ה' אלוקינו מלך העולם שלא חיסר בעולמו כלום, וברא בו בריות טובות ואילנות טובות ליהנות בהן בני אדם"
